Spanish Embassy collaborates with Ghanaian wine distributors at ‘Wines from Spain’ fair
The Spanish Embassy in Ghana has held its “Wines from Spain: Cheers Spain” fair in Accra to offer professionals in the wine and hospitality industries in Ghana the opportunity to showcase their products and network with various wine distributors from Spain.
Read full articleHead of Economic and Commercial Office at the Embassy, Miguel Higuera in an interview with GhanaWeb said that he is confident Ghanaian wine distributors will be granted export opportunities to other markets in the near future.
“Spain is currently one of the main wine exporters to Ghana and its presence is growing fast and the years ahead are full of excitement for Spanish wine makers and we are hopeful of collaborating with Ghanaian wine distributors and enthusiasts to continue to enjoy them,” he said.
He added that “we also want Ghanaians to understand Spanish wine and it is essential to realize that there are many different origins of wine and it is important to notice that there are as many as 70 denominations of wine experience and what benefits each of them has to offer.”
Highlighting on the importance of the Spanish wine sector, Mr. Higuera said the country is one of the three biggest producers and exporters worldwide adding that, three Spanish wineries - Bodegas Valdepablo, Bodegas Illana and RM Rioja - are currently present in Ghana to introduce their products to Ghanaian distributors.
Ghanaian wine distributors who participated in the fair include Don Emilio, Marina Distribution, Prestige Trade, TT Brothers Limited and West Africa & Gulf Company Ltd.
Patrons were offered more than 80 wines from an array of Spanish regions.
Mr. Higuera used the occasion to thank all the wine and hospitality professionals who have promoted Spanish wines in Ghana.
