Stakeholders on the Digital Terrestrial Transmission platform have agreed that the Central Digital Transmission Company Limited (CDTC), would remain the sole entity to operate and manage the DTT infrastructure.
In a joint press briefing, after a crunch meeting of stakeholders held in Accra on Thursday, the Minister for Information, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah said that stakeholders resolved to collaborate in joint public education campaigns on the DTT project moving forward, adding, the various organisations will continue to engage each other as the project proceeds.

Stakeholders present at the meeting are: Ministry of Communication, Ministry of Information, Ministry of Finance, National Media Commission, National Communication Authority, Ghana Independent Broadcasters Association, Film Producers Association of Ghana, Ghana Academy of Film and Television Art, Ghana Actors Guild, NAFTI, Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, Ghana Institute of Engineering, K-Net Ltd and ILC Consultants.
The next stakeholders’ meeting is scheduled to take place within the next four weeks.
The project
The DTT project which was to be executed in three phases started with the completion of the first phase in April 2016, where the network platform became operational, feeding six (6) sites in Greater Accra and Ashanti Regions and running 27 programme channels.
In October 2016, sixteen sites were completed in four regions – Upper East, Upper West, Northern and Volta but had to be shut down due to inadequate power supply.
The third phase of the project according to the Communication Ministry was completed in February 2017, covering 20 sites in four (4) regions including the Brong Ahafo, Eastern, Central and Western Regions.
