‘We were not rejected by International Banks’ – COCOBOD replies Minority

Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) has strongly denied allegations by Minority Leader Cassiel Ato Forson that its request for a $1.5 billion loan for the 2024/2025 cocoa season was rejected by international banks due to poor financial health.

COCOBOD clarified that several banks had submitted proposals in response to its Request for Proposals (RFP) and emphasized that there is no indication of a lack of confidence in its creditworthiness.

The board also refuted claims that its decision to seek domestic funding was a "face-saving" measure, calling these assertions "categorically untrue" and criticizing the Minority for spreading falsehoods about the cocoa sector.
