The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) is making strides in reducing unemployment in Ghana, particularly in the Western Region, where 2,814 youth have been engaged under various modules.
Speaking at a media engagement in Sekondi, CEO Kofi Agyepong highlighted initiatives like community police assistants, health workers, and prisons office assistants.
Other programs include skills training in tiling, plumbing, beauty care, and auto works, with beneficiaries receiving monthly allowances and start-up tools.
The YEA has also supported tailors and seamstresses, providing GH¢18,750 each to 21 businesses. Additional efforts include engaging youth in the Business and Employment Assistance Programme (BEAP) and ICT training.
Agyepong emphasized YEA's commitment to empowering youth for socio-economic development and announced plans to enhance the sanitation module and create sustainable employment opportunities.
