A group of armed men blocked the Bolgatanga-Tamale highway near Gbimsi, North East Region, attacking passengers and setting a vehicle on fire.
Armed with AK-47 rifles, they targeted vehicles looking for passengers from Bawku, linked to the ongoing Bawku chieftaincy conflict that escalated on October 26.
A survivor reported seeing the attackers burning tires and beating individuals while allowing non-Kusasis to pass.
Gbimsi, mainly a Mamprusi community, is affected by the tensions, and efforts to contact the North East Regional Police for comments have been unsuccessful.
