The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) has intercepted 53 pistols, 65 rounds of live ammunition, 74 magazines, and a PC holster concealed in a container at the Golden Jubilee Terminal, Tema Port.
The 40-foot container, shipped from the U.S. and declared to hold vehicles and personal effects, arrived on November 4.
During a routine examination on November 15, Customs officers uncovered the concealed weapons in three suitcases.
The Commissioner of Customs, Brigadier Zibrim Ayorrogo, confirmed the seizure and stated that the suspects, including the agent and the consignee’s representative, have been arrested and handed over to the Marine and Railway Police for further investigation.
The GRA’s Intelligence and Preventive Units are collaborating on the ongoing case.
