Three individuals tied to the Aisha Huang case have been charged with conspiracy to engage in illegal mining and violating Ghana’s mining and immigration laws.
Li Wei Guo is accused of using false representation to obtain a work permit, while Shi Mei Zhi and Nana Kwame Opoku (alias Obolo) face charges for falsely acquiring residence permits.
The third accused is alleged to have facilitated non-Ghanaians in illegal mining activities.
The arrests followed a 2022 National Security probe into illegal mining activities in Kumasi.
The suspects were apprehended at Paraku Estates in the Ashanti Region.
Court proceedings are ongoing, with cross-examinations completed for the second accused and the third accused now presenting their defense.
