A Cape Coast court has directed a swift investigation into the fatal Mankessim shooting linked to chieftaincy tensions.
The accused, Eric Ato Appiah Mends, allegedly shot Alfred Yamson during a ritual procession for the Odambea festival, sparking unrest in the Nkusukum Traditional Area.
Prosecutors, led by DSP Daniel Gadzo, requested more time to gather evidence, which the magistrate granted, ordering completion by year-end to allow trial to begin.
The clash reportedly stemmed from disputes over festival rites, with one faction claiming customs were breached by appointing an unqualified individual to lead rituals.
Mends remains in custody until his next court appearance on November 26.
