A Togolese national, Shaibu Yaw, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison with hard labor for illegal mining in Akyem Mouso, Eastern Region.
Shaibu was convicted after pleading guilty to conspiracy and mining without a license. He was also fined 20,000 penalty units.
