A second year junior high school pupil has ended her life Sunday, January 15, at Sokpoe, a town near Sogakofe, in the South Tongu district of the Volta Region.
The young girl, Faith Akoto, was found hanging from a rope in her room.
The 16-year-old girl, who lived with her grandmother, was believed to be two months pregnant, according to eyewitnesses, who indicated that the pregnancy may have led her to take her life.
Another eyewitness told Class News: “A friend of the deceased went to pick an item she left in the room on the said morning only to find the body of the deceased hanging from a rope tied to the ceiling.”
Police have conveyed the body to the Sogakofe District Hospital as investigations continue.
