‘Your motive was to get AG to stop prosecuting you’ – Prosecution tells Jakpa

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Yvonne Atakora Obuobisa, has suggested that Richard Jakpa's motive for requesting a private meeting with the Attorney-General via WhatsApp was to persuade him not to prosecute.

This emerged during Jakpa's cross-examination at the High Court on June 20.

Jakpa, on trial with Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, denied this, stating he wanted to explain his innocence and urge the Attorney-General to cease unjust treatment.

Jakpa claimed his aim was to address perceived misuse of discretionary powers and to emphasize that Dr. Sylvester Anemana, not him or Dr. Forson, should be accountable if any financial loss occurred.
