Please Concede Defeat Now.
Is the sense of political maturity evading the NPP and Nana Akufo Addo? A defeat is a defeat regardless of whatever form and shape it does present itself. We should be able to swallow our pride to accommodate defeat whenever it befalls us. The NPP of which I am a sympathiser should be bold enough to accept defeat at this juncture of her political life.
Nana Akufo Addo being such an iconic politician many people look up to for inspiration when they are lost in the political wilderness, should not debase himself by holding out intransigently against the wish of the people who have voted for a change of government. Nana should be wiser enough to ensure he does not allow himself to be manipulated for the selfish ends of some corrupt NPP leaders, activists and stalwart supporters. The more he tries, the more he loses respect, and ridicules himself by becoming the public enemy number one. Everybody knows that the NDC's Atta Mills has won the presidential runoff election. Nothing can convince me to believe otherwise, although a NPP sympathiser as I am. The NPP must pay the ultimate price for the utter display of folly, immaturity, selfishness and pure callousness prior to, during, and after their primaries to elect their parliamentary aspirants. From that very period, they should have known that the outcome was going to be gloomy. I foresaw it and discussed it with one Mr. Fred Bonsu, also a strong NPP activist resident in Canada. My worst nightmare as foreseen has come to pass.
Should there be a search for someone to be held responsible for the misfortunes of the party and Nana, the person should be nobody other than Mac Manu, the Chairman of the party. He did not only preside over but also initiated the abhorrent moves that saw some NPP parliamentary aspirants decamping in broad daylight to become independent candidates almost all of whom won their constituencies. It was simple understanding and political expediency to have granted the request of the constituents of those affected areas. They demanded of the NPP to nominate such persons while they voted for them. But all we saw was the most selfish politically immature NPP goon or goons stupidly imposing their claimed choice of incumbents on the electorates in those constituencies. And the end result is the problem of a losing battle Nana Addo is cunningly being manipulated to fight by the very hand or hands that caused it in the first place. They did not want him to win in the first place that is my personal conviction as discussed well in advance of the election with some confidants. My honest prediction contrary to the bold face put up in my articles as a campaign ploy has manifested. The NPP and Nana Akufo Addo have lost both the year 2008 parliamentary and presidential elections and so must concede defeat.
The graceful acceptance of election defeat is also a cardinal exponent of the practice of democracy. You cannot claim to be a democrat while being stubbornly recalcitrant, not budging to obvious defeat. I call on any NPP faithful to pile pressure on Nana Addo to submit to the wish of the Ghanaian masses that have voted to move Ghana forward through a change of government. The NDCs have won the election; pure and simple. Nana should not in the least soil his hard earned reputation by fighting the animus battle in a vain attempt to rob the NDC of what is now theirs.
The muteness and nonchalance of the outgoing President, His Excellency John Agyekum Kufuor before and during the elections had not helped the course of the NPP and Nana Addo at all. Could the ill-fate of Nana Addo be attributed to the design of God? Many were the Ghanaians that supplicated God Almighty for a peaceful end to the election. Now that their prayers have been answered, how dare Nana Addo to let be clouded by simple selfishness to challenge God? What is written in indelible ink has come to stay try as one may to alter it.
Nana Addo should please listen to the old man as his age is sufficient indication of wisdom. Let those who have ghosts in their closets fight their own silly battle to avoid their existence being divulged. Do not allow them to use you as a stooge, hiding behind you to perpetrate their crimes. The day of reckoning is just around the corner. The evil that men do lives after them. I once more, and for the last time entreat Nana Akufo Addo to throw in the towel and accept defeat. The whole world knows you have lost to Atta Mills so whatever tactics those with selfish intents within the NPP compel you to resort to will not wash. Nana, those who supported you and still do honestly support you are asking you to relinquish any false claim to the office of the presidency of Ghana. It is now not your time but that of Professor Evans John Atta Mills. Much has been said and it is now up to Nana and the NPP to decipher my message upon which to make informed decisions. My unyielding stance is still, "Nana should permit the smooth transition of power to the NDC and Atta Mills" for Nana has lost the election. Failing to advise himself intelligently by listening to the honest but not the dishonest ones will see many a NPP support leave the party. It is a disgrace to all of us to see the NPP do a goose chase after the wind.
Shalom, Shalom and Shalom.
