Are there any men left in Ghana’s army?

Fri, 22 Feb 2013 Source: Tutu, Prince Osei

The question above has been reverberating in my mind for some time now. I kept it to myself until I met some right thinking Ghanaian youth (men and women). Their thought on the above question is on the same wave length as mine. I trust my readers have on the quiet asked themselves this same question.

So therefore none will tag me as a doomsday prophet. The co-incidence of my silent question with that of the youth is simply because of the total mismanagement and retrogression of Ghana by a group of lazy criminals who call themselves politicians. I have heard and read about some bold and courageous army officers whom at different points in Ghana’s history marched out of the barracks to take charge of the country.

Akwasi Amankwah Afrifa, General Acheampong, FLT LT J.J. Rawlings were among those patriotic soldiers who could not sit unconcerned but intervened in the useless governance of some elected people whose only interest were to loot the country’s resources.

I therefore ask again ARE THERE ANY MEN LEFT IN GHANA’S ARMY?.

IF NO then the so called politicians have a field day. They can continue to steal and mismanage the country and care less about the millions of the suffering masses.

IF YES; then may I humbly ask WHERE ARE THEY? IF they are in the barracks may I know what they are doing there? Why are they waiting for a land full of individuals to take this nation “hostage”? Have they (the soldiers) forgotten that they sworn an oath to defend Ghana?

I strongly and as such millions of Ghanaians feel that the ugly situations that made people in uniform struck at various periods in history are here again. If there are MEN in Ghana Army can they say that they have not seen the awful and ugly governance by the elected people who played on the intelligence of Ghanaians to occupy those positions?

Are the MEN aware that since 1992, parliamentarians are given car loans and rents allowance every four years? Are the MEN aware that the current parliament of 275 members are to receive GH¢50,000 (¢500 million old cedis) each as rent allowance for only four years? And don’t the MEN know that the amount quoted above can build 3-4 bed room flat which could always be the bonafide property of the constitutuency an MP given that amount is representing? I believe the MEN are also aware that each of the 275 MP’s will receive GH¢150,000 (¢1.5 billion old cedis) as car loan.

Those who have the privilege as ministers and deputy ministers will enjoy additional benefits. Mr. MEN if indeed you are there can you tell me that you are not aware of the Alfred Agdesi Woyome’s scandal where trillions of Ghanaian cedis is involved while the man in the centre of the affair has publicly admitted he has no contract with Ghana ? Maybe the joblessness in the country has not affected your male/female siblings, cousins, nephews, nieces etc making them dependent on you. If the lack of employment has affected you that much then my question is what do you make of it?

If again there are any MEN left in Ghana’s Army; have they then see how the whole Nation is in sanitation crisis? I further believe that if there are MEN left in the Army then they are all also confronted or their civilian families are confronted with the rationing of electric power while our politician aide export of the scarce commodity to other countries.

In the hands of the politician today, Aeroplanes to toothpicks are imported; this am not sure the MEN are aware. MEN if indeed you are alive and kicking can you deny knowledge of the moral and financial corruption which is killing the Nation so fast by the day?

Today enlistment into your own disciplined force and other forces attracts a bribe of GH¢3,000.00 (¢30 million old cedis). MEN this is not just a wild allegation. Since you have the power and the expertise to check I implore you to do so. How come you the only MEN we have sit aloof and allow Ghana to be “chinanised”? The “chinanisation” of Ghana has benefited and continue to benefit few people with huge negative consequences on the poor and vulnerable. All water bodies destroyed. Local Medium and small business collapsed. The tricksters call politicians deceive the vulnerable with the promise of creating jobs but are afraid to mention the revamping or rejuvenating a single collapsed factory built by Osagyefo Nkrumah.

MEN to mention but a few. My question again is are there no reasons enough to perform your duty as MEN in uniform to save Ghana from total collapse as your predecessors did?

Have you lost your sense of duty? Or have you joined the bandwagon? Have you been corrupted to the extent you cannot pull the trigger? What is holding you from cleansing Ghana and exorcising the Nations of evil –greedy –bastard politicians?

MEN – I don’t mean take action against one particular party but all those crooks who have teamed up raping the Nation’s resources. Do you intend taken action but harbour any fear the general Ghanaian populace may not be interested?

Then that can only be described as figment of your imaginations. Millions of Ghanaians I must say are disappointed in you for remaining silent while their lives are being toyed with by these so-called politicians.

The time is now. Act now because there are more than enough reasons to act. I personally offer to be a communication officer when you save Ghana from doldrums of the politician. I trust if there are indeed ANY MEN LEFT IN GHANA’S ARMY then we (Ghanaians) shall soon hear from you (THE MEN).
