Good move by the president on the breakfast meeting.
Prayer is very important in the life of every believer, and the president is no exception since he is a believer and a follower of Jesus Christ. So the president of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo was right to summon and assemble the clergy at the Jubilee House to pray to God any day, any time for the people of Ghana.
But one may ask, is the president fulfilling scriptures fully or only calling on God at his own time? Because the Bible says, “Pray without ceasing.” 1Thess.5:18. Prayer according to this scripture is a daily act and not one of things just as we saw yesterday.
The president quoted a few scriptures to buttress his act yesterday. For instance, he quoted 2 Chronicles 7:14 “Then if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.” (NLT) My basic understanding of the above is, this should be a daily act as a believer. Bible says, “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.” James 4:8. You can only get close to someone when you have constant conversations with the person.
Mr. President, this is a good move from you by calling on the clergy to join you in praying for the nation in these challenging times. But must it be in times of hardship, how about the good times? The God you called on in these difficult times, is He not the same God in good times?
But this goes a long way to expose him as the most shameless and hypocritical person in leadership... He was the same person who chastised late President Mills that he has turned the Castle into a church just because he held a series of prayer sessions to pray for the Nation...
Thank God he acknowledges the power of prayer now... but he must avert his mind to the fact that God is not an emergency remedy God... only when you are in crisis... You create a relationship with him to rather avert the crises...before it reaches you...
Kindly, I will like to refer you to the book of Ecclesiastes 7:14 “In the day of prosperity be joyful, But in the day of adversity consider: Surely God has appointed the one as well as the other, So that man can find out nothing that will come after him.”
Mr. President, if you can call on God in bad times, then you can call on Him in good times as well. Continue assembling the clergy frequently to pray for the nation as the late President Atta Mills did, but not only in times of hardship.
