Heroes never last so don't seek to become a hero in Kumawu

This publication is all about a genuine concern expressed by one of my friends regarding my avowed determination to ensure that total justice prevails in the ongoing Kumawu chieftaincy dispute.

According to an advice given by his security course tutor, never seek to be a hero since almost all those who sought better collective interests of their people, community or country were killed before their dreams could be realised. They never lived to become heroes, the tutor told his class.

Martin Luther King Jnr and Malcolm X, both from the United States of America, were activists fighting for equality for the African-Americans in the then markedly racially White supremacist America. Both of them ended up being brutally murdered before they could achieve their objective.

Steve Biko of South Africa got killed by the Afrikaans in South Africa when he stood up tall to fight against the dehumanizing apartheid introduced in the country to enslave Black Africans in their own land by the immigrant White Europeans principally from the Netherlands.

The late President Nelson Mandela was not spared the punishment of political prisoner. He was arrested and thrown into jail, suffering harsh jail conditions for twenty seven years, all because of his quest to liberate his country from the dominion of apartheid.

What is apartheid? “Apartheid was a political and social system in South Africa during the era of White minority rule. It enforced racial discrimination against non-Whites, mainly focused on skin colour and facial features. This existed in the twentieth century, from 1948 until the early-1990s” - Wikipedia.

The Afrikaans had introduced segregation policies in South Africa where the natives, the owners of the land and country, were prevented from entering into certain cities, townships and places in the country.

How painful is it to suffer such level of injustice, social exclusion and rejection as a human being in your own land?

The late first President of Ghana, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, was arrested and imprisoned during the public agitation for political independence for Ghana from the White British colonialists. He was actively leading a movement demanding for independence for Ghana immediately.

Yes, all heroes suffer in one way or the other but in the end their objective is partly, if not fully, achieved. Most of them die by murder or imprisonment and other forms of wicked human devices.

All these people have always the intent to seek equality and fairness for their people seen to be trampled upon needlessly shamefully. It is not their intention to become heroes but to fight for fairness and justice for their people by which initiative they are seen by their peers and country as heroes.

It is never my intention to become a hero. All I seek is justice and peace for Kumawuman citizens. I want the truth to be told. I want fairness, absolute justice, and truthfulness to be the cardinal pivots on which the treatment of Kumawuman within the Asanteman and Ghana revolves.

Why should the Asante Overlord be allowed to appropriate to himself authority over Kumawu whereas he has not that power vested in him? Why should he be allowed to impose a person of his collusive choice on Kumawuman as their paramount chief contrary to Kumawu conventions and Asante customs and traditions? Why should he be allowed to set illegal and criminal precedent for Kumawuman where himself and all future Asantehene will have power over Kumawuman, their land and who becomes the paramount chief and queen of Kumawu? Why? He has not that power and I will not sit by for him to exercise that illegal power as though it is his inalienable right. The stupidity and insatiable greed by Kumawuhemaa Nana Abenaa Serwaah Amponsah should not be allowed to translate into perpetual subjugation of Kumawuman by any Asantehene. This is my case!

It is just right that at such critical times, a son or daughter of the soil must arise to defend their locality and people against such acts of transgressions and obnoxious abuse of power.

One thing that does not scare me one bit is death. For after all, death is not unique to one person or a few people. It is an ultimate journey to be made by any living person on the surface of the earth. The murderer will equally die one day much the same as the murdered.

Yes, I have had attempts on my life. Had one Kwaku Akosah, a senior brother to the now self-styling Kumawuhene Dr Yaw Sarfo, not foolishly sought to harm me in London?

Additionally, one Thomas, my junior at then Kumawu Tweneboa Kodua Secondary School, now the supposed Kumawu “Ahenenananomhene”, currently residing in Manchester in the United Kingdom, also foolishly issues threats to me via his friends, a coward nonentity as he is.

Had alleged arrangements not been made by the “bigger than anyone and the laws of Ghana” traditional overlord to get me arrested for questioning by him? I was alerted to his alleged nefarious attempts to kidnap me to answer for why I have been challenging his authority with insults regarding his involvement in the Kumawu chieftaincy dispute.

Telling and accepting the truth hurts but in the end, it brings comfort. Nobody chooses to become a hero but the quest to fight injustices being meted to his people end up making them either dead or living heroes.

Could Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II please desist from arrogating to himself powers over Kumawu and his needless consultations with Ghana judges to twist justice in his favour over the Kumawu chieftaincy dispute? Once he stops that with our judges and politicians ceasing their shameful open infatuation with corruption, I shall curtail, if not stop completely, putting any publications out in the public domain.

Kumawuman, note it from today, that should I die for my cause to succeed, thus, for truth and justice to prevail to liberate you from the hands of rogues, from suppressions, from outside domination, and from slavery in your own land, then I am ready for it.

However, I thank my noble friend for his sincere advice and his care for me. He has rightly seen the dangers awaiting me but when the die is cast, there is no turning back.

The good and merciful God Almighty who has chosen me as His vessel to help set Kumawuman and her citizens free from greedy, selfish and wicked hands, shall be my shield and protector through this tortuous journey of mine.

I dedicate this publication to all my friends and fans, especially KOO D……!
