The Campaign Team of Nana Akuffo Addo and other NPP activists were seen distributing campaign fliers that sought to attack the personality of Prof. Evans Atta Mills, the NDC Presidential candidate. The flier has the picture of Prof. Mills with the heading Mr. Clean.
This flier is intended to paint Prof. Mills as incompetent. It actually called him Prof. Failure. Ironically, the Akuffo Addo team and the NPP are the same group of people who have consistently been calling for an issue-based campaign devoid of personal attacks. This flier rather exposes the NPP to its double standards.
To the merits of the flier, if Akuffo Addo and his team are looking for what best describes a failure, Akuffo Addo should hold himself in front of a mirror; an image of a real a failure bedeviled with many negatives they will see.
I will attempt to hold the mirror for Nana Akuffo Addo here; I hope he will be able to identify a failure in that mirror.
Nana Akuffo Addo as Attorney General Minister of Justice (2001 - 2003):
Under Nana Akuffo Addo as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Mrs. Ursula Owusu Agyei then a Special Assistant to Nana Akuffo Addo defrauded the nation of $20,000. Instead of prosecuting Mrs. Owusu Agyei for the crime, she was awarded with Westel. https://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=26355
Under Nana Akuffo Addo as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abena Oforiwaa, Comfort Akua Amankwah and Ama Nyarkoah, chairperson, organizer and treasurer, respectively, of the Dzorwulu branch of his New Patriotic Party (NPP) were arrested at the Kotoka International Airport for drug trafficking in February 2002. These three NPP women were never charged.
Nana Addo as then Attorney General and his NPP Government attempted to contract fraudulent loans of US$1 billion and US$300 million from the non-existent "IFC" and "CNTCI" companies respectively.
As Attorney General and Minister of Justice he advised President Kuffour to pack the Supreme Court to overturn the ruling on the legality of the Fast Tract Courts, a ruling that shocked and dazed him.
As Attorney General and Minister of Justice, he flouted a court order to reinstate Kodjo Hodari Okae the dismissed Ghana Immigration Service boss. His crime, a directive he had issued for the refusal of an entry permit to an Italian national, who was found to have falsified his documents. (http://www.myjoyonline.com/news/200702/2001.asp)
Nana Akuffo Addo was the Attorney General when the Dagbon Chief Ya-NaYakubu Andani and 40 elders were murdered in broad day light in the presence of the police and the military personnel. Nana Addo is yet to add his voice to those calling for the prosecution of the perpetrators. (https://www.ghanaweb.com/GhanaHomePage/NewsArchive/artikel.php?ID=27711)
Nana Addo discontinued the trial of Frank Benneh, who was then being tried on drug charges by the then NDC government. No meaningful explanation had been given.
Nana Addo is said to have de-confiscated the assets of his brother in-law Frank Amankwah, a well known International drug baron currently in jail in Brazil.
As far as most Ghanaians are concerned there are no known achievements of Nana Akuffo Addo as the Attorney General and Minister of Justice.
Nana Addo as Foreign Minister (2003 -2007):
Four diplomatic passports were missing from the office of Nana Addo; these passports were later found in the possession of known drug barons. No explanation was given.
44 Ghanaians were murdered the Gambia. As in the Dagbon case Akuffo Addo once again proved his incompetence by ignoring the cries of the families of the victims. Nana Addo was then the president of the Security Council of the United Nations, one would have thought Nana Addo would have lodged a complaint with the Security Council instead he was busy looking for terrorists in the Middle East.
Nana Akuffo Addo as a Presidential candidate:
He conspired with the President, John Agyekum Kuffour to rob Ghanaians in the name of national Awards. For his reward, Nana Addo took home an 18 carat gold medal worth $20,000 at the expense of the Ghanaian tax payers whose mandate he is seeking.
Nana Addo could not put together his own curriculum vitae but left too many gabs and potholes for to be filled in by his adversaries.
In conclusion therefore, I ask Nana Addo and his team to save our ears since he Akuffo Addo is the symbol of a Ghanaian failure.
