Open Letter To President J.D Mahama Of Ghana

Sat, 6 Sep 2014 Source: Tutu, Prince Osei

Dismiss Oko – Vanderpuije

Dear Your Excellency,

I hope that you,the first lady and your entire family are doing well? Mr President I have not put my thoughts into writing for sometime now,but I have decided to do so because of the sensitive nature of the matter contained in here.

Your excellency,I must state before hand that I am a ghanaian and based on the provisions of the 1992 republican constitution of our land I am at liberty to add my voice (in this case, writing) to any national socio-economic and socio-political discourse.

Dear sir,I may or may not believe in you as an individual or in the National Democratic Congress as a party but that must not be considered here. What is important is the importance of the matter been raised here. Your Excellency despite whatever differences some Ghanaians may have with you the ultimate objective should be the development of Ghana

I write to call on you as a matter of urgency dismiss the Mayor of accra, Oko Vanderpuije. This fellow was appointed by your predecessor, the late Prof. Mills. His appointment into the second term was given by your good self. All signs and indications are obvious that the job of the Accra Mayorship is huge than that square in the round hole.

Your Excellency, the Mayor has demonstrated ample incompetence and ineffectiveness in the adminstration of the capital city. There are hundreds of examples to be cited but for the purpose of this letter I will dwell on the poor environmental sanitation situation in the city. This over the years exposed the city dwellers to many preventable diseases including malaria and now the much dreaded cholera. Your Excellency the number of deaths and hospital admissions are common knowledge hence I will not trouble you “limited peace” with it.

The sad aspect of Oko Vanderpuije’s incompetence is the reduction of your personality to a janitor a few days ago.

I pause to ask, why must the President be made to do things which others have been assigned to do and take pay for?

Mr President for want of time I would end here by charging you to save the people living in Accra from needless deaths and sicknesses as well your government from humiliation by dismissing Oko Vanderpuije.

Your Sincerely

Prince Osei Tutu

Citizen of ghana.
