First of all, I had no intention of writing anything about Sekou Nkrumah. He was the last person on my mind! Besides, I had other things to write about. Well, I had a change of heart, just a couple of days ago. Sekou's recent political maneuver has got many talking! Of course, it couldn't go by unwritten. So, I immediately took pen to paper, and viola! Here we are. Now, I know Sekou Nkrumah to be not only a political animal, he is also an opportunist. Nothing wrong with it! Name one person who isn't. So, I wasn't really taken aback by his decision to support Nana Akuffo Addo, the NPP flag-bearer. In fact, most of us saw it coming. We just didn't know how soon! That being said, I could consider myself a patriot. A patriot, as you all know, puts his/her country first. Also, contrary to popular belief, a true patriot isn't a political party devotee. He/she doesn’t swear allegiance to a political party. No! Such a person is neutral. He/she votes on issues— not just on any issues, but issues with the power to transform a country and its people for the better. Socio-economic development issues, to be precise.
The NDC Party has never been about socio-economic issues. It has no cognitive content, to say the least. In fact, its founder, Chairman Rawlings— has no vision whatsoever. May the truth be told! Rawlings was given nineteen years to transform Ghana for the better. What did he do with all those years? He aged with it! He failed to left Ghana out of poverty! If memory serves us well, we should be able to remember the economic hardship in the eighties. Back then, commodities were less in rotation. Thus, sending the price of commodities through the roof. Core inflation was over 25%. Unemployment was forcing many out of the country. Our gross domestic product was between $2-$3 billion. Ghana's infrastructure was nothing to write home about. Our education system was in shambles. The country's debts were high on the increase. The list goes on and on! In short, the eighties was hell. Rawlings should've disappeared from Ghana's political scene in shame. He didn't! Instead, he went on to form the NDC, a PNDC without the P. Sekou Nkrumah knew the history of the NDC Party! It's not a patriotic political party, yet he didn't hesitate to join at Mills' request, only be used and dumped later.
Now, about the NPP Party? In comparison to the NDC Party, the NPP Party did some amazing things. Kufour's administration inherited an economy, which was performing below par! There was so much left undone by the Rawlings' administration with so much left to do. So, the NPP, under Kufour's guidance, went to work. Within a short period of time, our gross domestic product escalated from $3.74 billion to $7.34 billion. A remarkable accomplishment, without a doubt. Slowly but surely, the monies came by knocking. Micro and macro credit were extended to those who sought self-employment. An improved health-care system was introduced. It was made available to all and sundry! As a result of the increment in her foreign trade, Ghana saw her net income and revenue soar. Numerous debts cancellations were soon to follow! For sure, Kufour's administration was on course. Ghana couldn't have been better. It shown! Most naturally, Mills’ new administration expected to find something in the treasury. It was empty! The NPP government made no savings with its make and spend policy. The IMF had to be called to the rescue! Otherwise, Ghana’s condition would’ve been dire.
Now, is the NPP the kind of party, which Sekou should support back to power? He obviously thinks so! The CPP Party has always been about one thing and one thing only: progress. The party knows how to develop a country. The record has shown! In fact, when it comes to a long term socio-economic development plan, the CPP Party is the political body to see. Dr Kwame Nkrumah did fashion Ghana for glory. Make no mistake about it! His numerous accomplishments are there for all to see! The universities, which his government built, are still being used. The health facilities are still operating. The transport roads are still intact after all these years. Some of the factories, albeit old, are still employing thousands. In view of all this, I was expecting Sekou to join his sister, Samia Nkrumah, to help restore this great party to its former glory. However, for some unknown reason, Sekou has turned his back on the CPP. He has turned his back to join forces with his late father's political enemies to bury the CPP, the only party, which ever cared for Ghana and her children. The betrayal!
As for those who supported imperialistic America to destroy Dr Kwame Nkrumah and Ghana, let me say this to you: The righteous have no cause to fear in this world or the next! It’s the devils—who have brought destruction, shame and suffering upon this country, who will be shown no mercy. America, the-oil-thieving-imperialist—is already paying for her crimes. Look at her, she almost bankrupt!
PS: Let’s take back our country. Vote CPP
