We cannot violently impede or attack properties of law enforcement officers who are enforcing the law and expect them to be effective at combating crime.
Though many may not boast of the efficiency of our security apparatus we cannot jeopardize the little they have achieved.
Admittedly, the police institution has its own challenges but as a people, we must appreciate its relevance in promoting peace and stabilizing some key occurances in this country.
The institution symbolizes an aspect of law ie law enforcement and must be seen and respected as such.
It is also at the heart of our democratic governance and must not be toyed with no matter their level of potency.
Where the 'barrier' of policing is removed or made insignificant by acts of rebellion and illegalities we may not be able to stop the multitude of insecurities prying in the corners of our communities.
And let us not confuse ourselves. Criticizing the police is not the same as physically destroying the institution we so much need.
A fast growing society that cannot guard its institution (s) to function as it ought to, has a fragile stability and will leave a legacy that will hunt them in the future.
The way forward will mean changing ways/attitudes ie education and adequately tooling the police institution to enable them to rise above the capability of individuals and groups.
