Stop we are not happy

The New Patriotic Party youth in the Western and Central Regions has reacted to agitations by The National Democratic Congress on Thursday to arrest and prosecute the former Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Begyina Sekyi Hughes, for allegedly "looting property from his official residence upon leaving office.

Speaking to the press in Cape Coast the spoke person for the group Kweku Ejaku said the former N.P.P officials need recognition not humiliation. He also asked the present administration to put a stop to it because they don’t like what is happening.

Kweku Ejaku described as unfortunate the fact that such threats could be coming from the National Security Advisor Brigadier-General Joseph Nunoo-Mensah.

He said such matters must be left for the judiciary to handle and not to be bandied around to deliberately malign the former officials.

The threat of legal action against the ex-government functionaries comes in the wake of recent reports of seizures of vehicles belonging, mostly, to officials of the erstwhile NPP administration.

With the background of pressure from some quarters to go on some political vendetta so obviously he is responding to political agitation. If there is any wrong doing by any person, there are procedures. And the procedures are that investigations are conducted, any evidence of wrong doing is presented to the Attorney General and who then decides to prosecute or otherwise he pointed out.

The group advised the present Mills led administration to stop this embarrassment and focus on the economy which is deteriorating. Inflation is up by 20.53 percent, the Cedi is always devaluing and the common Ghanaian man is suffering.
