The manhyia and the emerging attacks

The constitutional consideration to disengage chiefs from active party politics towards the preservation and promotion of circumspection and pragmatism in our chieftency institutions is not meant to scrap away the inalienable rights of our stool leaders but to deepen the veneration and the sacred nature of chieftency institutions in the country.

Around the world, rulers of stool lands have contributed immensely to the development of their respective nations without being exploited for political gimmicks and loose rhetorics and Ghanaian chiefs are no exception.

The continual support and contribution to the development of the nation by chiefs in Ghana through their representation in the counsel of state and other national forum has been quite encouraging, they influence decisions at the top, offer constructive criticisms and suggestions and also advise government on its policies and other businesses of the nation. Indeed over the years the tremendous efforts and role played by our stool leaders in the development of the nation is quite welcoming.

But the emerging trends in today's politics which seek to defile all sacrosanct platforms leave alot at moral corridors to be desired. It appears that the current style of party politics poses a big threat to chieftency institutions in the country, particularly the NDC-NPP dirty kind of politics that is overshadowing the political landscape.

The schemes employed by some ill-mannered political fanatics who take delight in tainting the sacred alter of chieftency institutions in the country with disdain and impunity only reveals our immaturity and lack of political savviness.

The recent outrageous bastardization of the Asantehene Otumfo Osei Tutu ll, who was accused by a faceless bunch of cowards powered by the click of the mouse, who hide infront of a computer screen, advertise and sell wicked lies at a very low price to desperate and dispondent individuals both inside and outside the business of politics thereby instigating hatred and incendiary acts against the Manhyia palace.

These bandits recently pointed accusation fingers on the Asantehene of having brokered a deal with the supreme Court judges in the just ended election petition which saw the President emerged victorious. Interestingly these wild claims which sought to portray the Asantehene as a conduit in the purported inducement shrey of the Supreme Court judges lack merits of substantiation, they only remained mere wicked allegations but some political bigwigs do capitalised on these sheer lies for political reasons meanly to wash away the hard won reputation of the Asantehene. There seem to be a sporadic attempt to sully the integrity of the manhyia palace of which some of the Ashantes are not privy to but have rather allowed themselves to be exploited in this kind of a conspiracy which rapes their own heritage.

The question is, if these people really have hard and incriminating evidence which suggest their claims in affirmation, indicting the integrity of Otumfo, what then stops them from coming public to defend their claims instead of throwing cowards blow from the darks.

Quiet recently in Norway where intelligence suggested that thieves had made away with jewelleries belonging to the manhyia palace, another vociferous dissidents redefined the whole scenario as a master plan by Otumfo and his co chiefs who connived and sold the items reported missing. In this instance, the evil reportage won conviction and tacit consideration expecially among some Ashante fraternity who hold partisan grudges against the Otumfo and the Manhyia palace.

There are several other scandals which sought to inflict dishonour on the Manhyia palace that are so distasteful for any discursive purposes. These instances are all part of a grand scheme by these same faceless bandits who wield political knives against the Asantehene with the sole intension of corrupting his hard won reputation.

Unsuspectingly these people appeared to be in a street fight with the Ashanti Kingdom towards the satisfaction of their bloodlust and integrity casualty is the only thing aimed at.

Again the crippling intelligence in the media landscape has contributed massively to the evolvement of this quagmire confrontation in the sense that some people in the media are being used as a propagandist tool by the faceless power elites to give oxygen of publicity to some of these integrity drowning messages. Without running few or minimal background checks into some of these sensitive stories they rush to go public only to realise that they have misinformed the public with wicked lies and hence they have caused an irreparable damage to others integrity. Morality and sanity in the media appeared to have replaced with vindictiveness and partisan instincts.

To have a vibrant media that is controlled by political interest is not worthy of any nation expecially Ghana, a nation touted as the beacon of democracy in Africa.

Such cowards tactics is what I describe as unjustifiable usurpation of ellites intelligence aimed at making passionate appeal to the sensibility of unsuspecting Ghanaians in their lies trade. Despite the desperate efforts by some of us to tear the veil of these lies-driven bastards, some political elements perceive it as veritable avenue where sheer scandals for partisan expediency are traded with complete disregard for its ramifications.

How far these have fell down to the psyche of the people is unimaginable and therefore what is required of Ghanaians and for that matter the Ashantes in particular is to rally behind Manhyia palace irrespective of ones political allegiance to help defeat the agenda of these evil cohorts. There is a need for collective efforts to hold the shaking and pulling reputation of the Manhyia palace.

My only concern is that, even some of the Ashantes have sacrificed their stool for party politics and have desecrated their royal heritage with scandals and falderal ideas and until they realise the need to revamp their allegiance to the golden stool and quit this partisan madness, they will only end up being casualties of the own war.
