Kumasi, Dec.26, GNA - Twenty-six babies were delivered at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) in Kumasi on Christmas Day. They comprised 20 boys and six girls.
Speaking to the GNA at the Labour Ward, Madam Mary Owusu Boateng, Principal Midwifery Officer on duty said the deliveries included four sets of twins and all the deliveries were normal. The Principal Midwife attributed the smooth delivery to the mother's regular visits to clinics, adding that, both the mothers and babies were in good health.
At the Officials Ward of KATH, Miss Afua Sarpong, a Staff Midwife on duty said eight babies were delivered and that all the babies were alive including their mothers.
Suntreso Government Hospital in Kumasi recorded 14 deliveries comprising 10 girls and four boys on the Christmas Day. Madam Georgina Osei Ankobia, Staff Midwife on duty said the babies were doing well, and that some had already been discharged, whilst others were yet to be discharged. At the Manhyia Government Hospital Maternity Ward, Madam Emelia Akpaloo, Staff Midwife in charge, indicated that eight deliveries were recorded on Christmas Day.
They were made up of five girls and three boys, mentioning that there was one Cesarean Section that was a boy. A total of four babies were delivered at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Hospital in Kumasi on Christmas Day.
Mrs Theresa Mensah-Agboh, the Principal Midwife at the Maternity unit of the Hospital said the babies comprised two boys and two girls and were all in good health. She noted that three of the mothers have been discharged, while one was still on admission and would soon be discharged. Five births were recorded at the Tafo Government Hospital, comprising three boys and two girls. Miss Josephine Adjei Berko, Midwife at the Maternity Department of the hospital who made this known to the GNA, said the babies were all in good health and as of now been discharged.
