Dr. Stephen Ayisi Addo, Programmes Manager of the National AIDS Control Programme, has announced that Ghana identified at least 34,000 new HIV cases between January and September 2024.
This was revealed during the launch of World AIDS Day in Accra, where a candlelight procession honored those lost to the virus.
Despite ongoing awareness efforts, the number of new infections is concerning, highlighting the need for increased prevention measures.
Ayisi Addo urged individuals living with HIV to seek treatment and called on stakeholders to enhance awareness efforts.
The Ghana AIDS Commission plans further activities to combat the epidemic.
