Madam Justina Owusu-Banahene, the Bono Regional Minister has implored Ghanaians to avoid self-medication, as the government strives to flatten the nation’s Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) curve.

Instead, the Regional Minister asked everybody to go for immediate medical check-ups whenever they observe abnormalities in their body system.

Mad Owusu-Banahene gave the advice on Wednesday when she visited and interacted with some patients on admission at the Wenchi Methodist Hospital.

She was at the facility to acquaint herself with its operations and observe strategies devised by authorities to stem the COVID-19 spread.

Mad. Owusu-Banaene indicated self-medication would lead to drug overdose and under-dose which could worsen the health conditions of patients.

She commended the Hospital authorities for the measures introduced so far to prevent the spread of the viral disease and advised the populace to still endeavour to strictly adhere to the COVID-19 health safety protocols.

Mad Owusu-Banahene indicated an early diagnosis of the COVID-19 facilitated its treatment and implored everybody to visit nearby health facilities whenever they experienced unusual headaches, coughing, sneezing, and catarrh.

“COVID is real and we must endeavour to protect ourselves, families, and all the people around us by especially wearing our nose or face masks in public places and gatherings”, she advised.

The Regional Minister said though many people in the region had taken the COVID-19 vaccine, they had no justification to disregard safety protocols and entreated everybody to help enforce the wearing of nose masks at public gatherings.
