The Ministry of Health has promised to clear a backlog of medical supplies detained at ports within two weeks.
This assurance follows plans by health-focused Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) to protest for the release of Global Fund medicines for malaria, tuberculosis, and HIV, which have been stuck since May 2023.
The delays are attributed to new exemption bill payment processes and additional charges.
Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, the Health Minister, committed to the deadline, stating he would personally ensure the supplies are released and would remain at the port until the issue is resolved.
