Ghana could cancel their trip to Germany for the International Hockey Federation Women’s World Cup in Monchengladbach due to the lack of funds.
The Ghana Hockey Association is still waiting for the Ministry of Youth and Sports to release a sum of $138,000 to enable them facilitate their trip.
Ghana’s contingent had planned to leave Accra on Tuesday July 24, three days before their opening match against highly-rated The Netherlands in Group A where they will also play USA and Korea Republic.
“We usually go through a process which we have done that and the budget is with the Ministry of Finance but they are not able to get the signatures on and we are also trying to get the Ministry to assist us in raising the funds but we are been told there is no money,” said Vivian Dugblor , Secretary for the Ghana Hockey Association
"Where we are now if we are not able to get the Ministry of Finance to release the money or Sports Ministry to support us in a way then it means we cannot participate in the Tournament,” she lamented.
The International Hockey Federation Women’s World Cup will be played from July 27 to August 4.
