The Ladies’ hockey team of the Ghana Police Service sealed their authority in the Greater Accra Hockey league with a 3-2 win over the arch-rivals, Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), to win the 2015 hockey season last Saturday.
GRA ladies had their destiny in their hands with a two-point lead and goal advantage over Police, but opted for the second position on the league table.
Police came into the game like wounded lions and did just what was expected of them.
The thrilling decider got the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Stadium almost filled with most of the fans chanting in favor of GRA ladies but after the final whistle in the 70th-minute, the charged atmosphere went dead.
Polices’ play maker Nafisatu Umaru was at her best making sure her team got the three maximum points needed to grab the league trophy.
So far, Police has won their third trophy for the season all at the expense of GRA Ladies; they have won the Beige Capital hockey knockout, Atta Mills Memorial cup, and the hockey league.
Meanwhile, both teams qualified to represent Ghana in the Africa Club Championships (ACC) to be held in Zambia in November this year.
Results of other matches played last Saturday are; Amazing Grace 0-6 Extinguishers, Real Ambassadors 16-0 La Juniors, Ark Boys 2-0 Legonites, NDK Financiers 1-2 Multistix and GRA men 3-2 Goldensticks.
