Accra, May, 10, GNA - The Ghana Karate Federation (GKF) will on May 27, commence talent hunt exercise in three selected regions to select "karatekas" to form the basis of the national team.
The talent hunt exercise will be conducted in Ashanti, Western and Central Regions of the country with sponsorship from Tropical Cable Ghana Limited and All Afra Ghana Limited.
Briefing the Ghana News Agency (GNA) Sports, the Chairman of the Federation Sensei Jude Adu-Amankwah said the selection of the regions was limited by the scarce resources at their disposal.
He said the exercise would last for two weeks and the federation hoped to select the best materials for the national team. Sensei Adu-Amnakwah said ten karatekas will be selected during the exercise to for Super National Karate Open Championship, slated for September 2006, as well as other programmes to be outlined by the Federation.
The Karate Chairman however, appealed to interested karatekas in other regions to contact the nearby sports development officers in their respective area for information on the tour.
Sensei Melvin Brown, the Technical Chairman of the Federation appealed to veterans and corporate entities to support the Karate Association in any capacity to enable them honour its many local and international commitments.
He said the association will soon come out with programmes to support the local movie industry.
"We will soon launch our business package which includes producing Hollywood Standard movies, to debunk the notion that there is no hope for the Ghanaian movie Industry".
