Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has confirmed the majority caucus supports Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s choice of Matthew Opoku Prempeh popularly known as NAPO as his running mate for the upcoming December elections.
Afenyo-Markin discussed this decision in a private meeting with Dr. Bawumia on June 28 at the Vice President’s residence.
He noted that President Akufo-Addo and relevant party organs have been consulted and are in agreement.
The national council will officially confirm the decision.
Afenyo-Markin urged the majority caucus to support Opoku Prempeh and advised NPP MPs to be cautious in public statements to avoid harming the party’s 2024 election prospects.
