Osman Ayariga, Deputy Youth Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has accused President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo of lacking commitment in the fight against illegal mining (galamsey).
Ayariga claims that the president and his party have directly benefitted from galamsey activities.
He made these remarks during an appearance on Channel One TV.
In response, Alfred Thompson, a member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Communications Team, urged Ghanaians to take collective responsibility in combating galamsey, emphasizing that the issue cannot be resolved by the president alone.
