Bawumia: Transparent elections essential for Africa’s peace and political stability

Vice President Alhaji Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has emphasized the importance of free, fair, and transparent elections as crucial for sustaining peace and political stability in Africa.

Speaking at the Democrat Union of Africa (DUA) Forum 2024 in Accra, he highlighted Ghana’s democratic achievements, including the peaceful transition of power and the role of institutions like the Electoral Commission in ensuring credible elections.

Dr. Bawumia called for a collective commitment to strengthening democratic governance across Africa, citing Ghana’s progress under President Akufo-Addo as an example and encouraging stakeholders to focus on building resilient democratic institutions.
