Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP flagbearer for Ghana’s upcoming general election, has held a private meeting with Majority Leader Alex Afenyo-Markin on June 28 to discuss his choice of running mate.
Bawumia has selected Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the current Minister for Energy and former Minister for Education, and tasked Afenyo-Markin with informing the Majority Caucus in Parliament.
A National Council meeting is set for next Tuesday, where Bawumia will present his choice for formal consideration and approval.
This move strategically positions the NPP with a seasoned politician from the key Ashanti Region.
