Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP's flagbearer, has consulted President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on his running mate for the December 7 presidential election, JoyNews reports.
During a meeting at Jubilee House, Dr. Bawumia presented his choice, which President Akufo-Addo accepted after offering advice.
The chosen candidate is Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, a 56-year-old medical doctor and graduate of Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.
Dr. Prempeh, who has served as Education Minister and currently as Energy Minister, was preferred by 76.2% of NPP delegates in a National Intelligence Bureau survey.
