Former UN Senior Governance Advisor, Prof. Baffuor Agyeman-Duah, has voiced concerns over the frequent replacement of Electoral Commission (EC) heads whenever a new government takes office in Ghana.
He cited examples like Charlotte Osei's removal after the New Patriotic Party (NPP) came to power in 2016, and the opposition NDC’s threat to replace the current EC Chair if they win the 2024 elections.
Speaking at the Ghana Speaks High-Level Forum, Prof. Agyeman-Duah warned that this trend undermines electoral integrity and urged political parties to adopt more neutral, stable practices, similar to Western democracies.
