Ursula Owusu-Ekuful has defended the government's decision not to auction the 5G network, citing lessons learned from the 4G spectrum auction to MTN, which led to a monopoly and pushed out other operators.
She explained that the government wants to promote fair distribution of data access and prevent a repeat of the 4G scenario, where MTN's financial muscle allowed it to corner the market.
Instead, the government will provide a shared infrastructure for all network operators and new entrants, ensuring equal access to data services and promoting economic growth.
