The Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA) has stated that there must be a debate before the 2024 elections to allow voters to evaluate presidential and vice-presidential candidates.
The IEA stresses the importance of these debates for informed decision-making. Despite disagreements between the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC) on the necessity of debates, the IEA is engaging with political parties to organize one before December 7.
Using Afrobarometer criteria, the IEA plans to invite four or five parties meeting the threshold for participation. Professor Alexander Bilson Darku confirmed the debate would be scheduled at a beneficial time for all parties.
