Mahama Ayariga, MP for Bawku Central, has criticized the government’s plan to recruit 11,000 individuals into security agencies, calling it a potential scandal in Ghana’s security sector history.
In an interview with Channel One TV, Ayariga described the move as an attempt to appease the public and warned that the lack of transparency could lead to further unrest.
He urged resistance against the recruitment process, which he believes could disproportionately favor those with political connections.
This follows reports of the government starting to clear a backlog of applicants and allegations of recruitment slots being allocated to NPP parliamentary candidates.
