The Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, Martin Adjei Mensah Korsah, has withdrawn a controversial Legislative Instrument (L.I.) that would allow MPs to use sirens and exempt them from speed limits.
The proposal, aimed at amending the Road Traffic Regulations, 2012 (LI 2180), faced public backlash and opposition from the Minority Caucus in Parliament.
Critics argued it was inappropriate given the nation's pressing issues.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, also denied any knowledge of the L.I. and clarified that Parliament lacks the constitutional power to amend regulations.
