Former Foreign Affairs Minister Hanna Tetteh has questioned whether Ghana’s Supreme Court considers public sentiment in its rulings, following the Court's decision to stay the Speaker of Parliament’s declaration of four vacant seats.
In a social media post, she acknowledged that the Court's role is to interpret the law impartially but emphasized that it operates within the context of society.
Tetteh stressed the importance of a strong, principled judiciary to safeguard democracy, especially in hyper-partisan times leading up to elections, where peace and security are fragile.
