Hassan Ayariga, the Presidential Candidate of the All People’s Congress (APC), has proposed bold measures to reduce Ghana's reliance on imported goods if elected in 2024.
In an interview on Channel One TV, Ayariga outlined plans to initiate an "economic lockdown" within his first 100 days in office, focusing on boosting local production and manufacturing.
He suggested halting imports to encourage domestic production, which he believes will stabilize the cedi, create jobs, and foster economic independence.
Ayariga also plans to establish 24/7 manufacturing hubs to make Ghana self-sufficient.
