Kufuor’s ‘doublespeak’: Endorses Akufo-Addo as best choice in 2020, then claims Bawumia will revive Ghana’s economy
Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has stirred political discourse with his contrasting endorsements of President Akufo-Addo and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Ahead of the 2020 elections, Kufuor urged Ghanaians to re-elect Akufo-Addo, praising his economic achievements and development strides.
Fast forward to 2024, Kufuor now advocates for Vice President Bawumia, lauding his economic expertise and describing him as a “man of destiny” capable of revitalizing Ghana’s economy.
The shift has drawn criticism, including from Alan Kyerematen, who suggests Kufuor should have stayed neutral to avoid public backlash.
As election tensions rise, the former president’s endorsements continue to fuel debates about leadership and the future of Ghana’s economy.
