Lands Minister hasn’t granted mining concessions to foreigners; Bole MP’s allegations baseless – Minerals Commission

The Minerals Commission has denied allegations by Bole-Bamboi MP Yusif Sulemana that Lands Minister Samuel A. Jinapor granted mining concessions to foreign entities without proper consultation.

In a June 24 statement, the Commission called the accusations baseless, emphasizing that all mineral rights are granted in accordance with the Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703), and the Minerals and Mining (Licensing) Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2176), which require consultation with affected parties.

Sulemana had claimed that a lack of consultation led to tensions and assaults on NPP executives by soldiers.

The Commission urged the public to dismiss Sulemana's false narrative.
