Dr. Ayew Afriyie, the NPP MP for Effiduase Asokore, has warned anti-galamsey protesters against demonstrating in Kumasi, suggesting they could face serious consequences.
Speaking at a campaign event for Vice President Bawumia, he accused the protesters of undermining government efforts to address illegal mining while also considering the livelihoods dependent on it.
Afriyie emphasized the need for dialogue instead of protests, expressing concerns over potential unrest and its impact on community stability.
He reiterated the NPP’s commitment to sustainable mining practices, dismissing claims that the government will ban galamsey outright.
