The Minority in Parliament has opposed the NextGen InfraCo 5G contract, calling it detrimental to national interest and legally invalid.
NDC MPs, led by Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, argue that the contract requires parliamentary approval under the Public Financial Management Act 2016 (Act 921).
They claim the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government’s decision to finalize the deal without parliamentary oversight makes it null and void. The MPs stress that bypassing parliamentary scrutiny undermines legal and procedural integrity.
Communication Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful defended the contract, stating NextGen InfraCo was created to handle the 5G rollout due to a lack of capable existing companies.
