The National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has cancelled enrolment payments for Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) contributors.
NHIA boss Dr Da-Costa Aboagye explained that since SSNIT contributors already contribute to NHIS, additional payments are unfair.
Waiving the fee, approximately GH¢8, will enable automatic enrolment and improve access to healthcare. This move aims to remove financial barriers, a proposal previously suggested by the opposition NDC.
The NHIA believes this will increase enrollment and improve healthcare access for SSNIT contributors.
