The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced an increase in electricity, water, and gas tariffs as part of its second quarterly review for 2024, effective from July 1 to September 30.
Residential electricity consumers will see a 5.84% increase, with lifeline consumers facing a 3.45% rise.
Industrial users will experience a 4.92% hike. Water tariffs will increase by 5.16% for all customer classes.
PURC’s Executive Secretary, Ishmael Ackah, stated that the review considers factors like the exchange rate, inflation, electricity generation mix, and fuel costs, while also taking into account industrial competitiveness and general living conditions.
