In response to welfare concerns of former Members of Parliament (MPs), Second Deputy Speaker Andrew Asiamah Amoako has formed an eight-member ad hoc committee to explore a potential pension scheme for MPs.
This initiative follows suggestions from both Minority and Majority Chief Whips during a tribute to the late Talensi MP, John Akologu Tia.
Presiding over Parliament on Friday, Amoako set a two-week deadline for the committee to present its recommendations.
He expressed confidence in the committee’s ability to produce beneficial outcomes, emphasizing the importance and urgency of their task.
