Presidents must pay tax on their salaries – Constitution Review Committee

The Constitution Review Consultative Committee has recommended scrapping Article 68 (5) of the Constitution to require presidents to pay tax on their salaries and emoluments, promoting equality before the law.

Former MP Inusah Fuseini emphasized that this change would align with equity principles, as the President currently receives tax-free public funds.

Additionally, the committee proposed capping Parliament at 277 members and suggested amendments to Article 47 to limit constituencies accordingly.

They also recommended capping the size of government, abolishing Deputy Minister positions, and reducing the number of Ministers to no more than 25.
