Rev. Dr. Fred Degbe, former General Secretary of the Christian Council of Ghana, has called for an end to the growing trend of vote buying and selling, a practice he says is fueling political corruption and hindering national development.
Speaking at a public lecture at the University of Education, Winneba, Degbe emphasized that candidates who buy votes often engage in corrupt practices to recoup their investments, stalling progress.
He urged Ghanaians, especially students and the media, to uphold integrity, reject monetary inducements, and combat threats like misinformation and divisive campaigning ahead of the 2024 elections.
