Stop blaming Covid-19 for your economic mismanagement – Minority tells govt

Isaac Adongo, Ranking Member on Parliament's Finance Committee, has criticized the government for blaming economic challenges on COVID-19 during the 2024 Mid-Year Budget Review.

He argued that the government had already created a fiscal crisis before the pandemic, citing missed changes in net international reserves in early 2024.

Adongo referenced a Bank of Ghana statement indicating financial struggles as early as late 2019, challenging the government's narrative.

He asserted that the economic mismanagement predated Covid-19, rejecting the pandemic as a scapegoat for the current fiscal woes.
